Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the Role

As CTO of Tamburi Holding, you own the entire technology stack -- from the products our customers and partners use to the IT backbone that keeps the business running every day.

On the product side, you set architectural direction across smart locker systems, customer-facing mobile apps, websites, onboarding portals, internal service-center tools, and ERP systems. On the infrastructure side, you own the backbone -- telephony, databases, identity, networking, endpoints -- across two office locations and a hybrid cloud + on-premise estate.

Your core mandate is to bring standardization, structuring, and modularity to a heterogeneous landscape: clear architectural patterns, reusable components, and synergies between software and infrastructure that compound into speed, quality, and scalability.

You report directly to the Managing Director and are the single point of accountability for all technology decisions.

Responsibilities

Software Development Leadership

  • Lead the software development function across multiple products and platforms
  • Define and enforce coding standards, architectural best practices, and DevOps processes
  • Drive delivery of enterprise-grade solutions (smart locker systems, mobile apps, web portals, internal tools)
  • Conduct architectural reviews, code reviews, and ongoing technology evaluations
  • Own sprint planning, resource allocation, and development timelines
  • Continuously improve performance, security, scalability, and CI/CD pipelines

IT Infrastructure & Operations

  • Own the full IT infrastructure across a hybrid cloud + on-premise estate
  • Manage on-prem virtualization (VMware/ProxMox), Domain Controllers, and File Services across 2 office locations
  • Operate and evolve MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL database environments
  • Administer Microsoft 365 / O365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, MFA)
  • Operate the 3CX telephony platform
  • Manage firewalls and networking across both office locations
  • Manage the client environment: Windows laptops & desktops, standard printers, Zebra industrial printers, and card printers
  • Manage relationships with IT partners and service providers (hosting, connectivity, telephony, support)
  • Report to the Managing Director on technology strategy, risks, and roadmap

Tech & Infrastructure Stack

  • Frontend: React, React Native, Angular, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Android Apps
  • Backend: .NET / .NET Framework (C#), Java / Spring Boot
  • Databases: MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
  • DevOps & Tools: Git, Bitbucket, Docker, Jenkins, REST APIs
  • Cloud & On-Prem: Hetzner Cloud (Linux, ISO 27001), VMware on-prem
  • Identity & Collaboration: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams
  • Telephony: 3CX
  • Network & Security: Enterprise firewalls (UDM Pro / Sophos), multi-site networking

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with proven leadership of engineering teams
  • Hands-on architectural understanding of microservices, APIs, and hybrid cloud/on-prem systems
  • Proficiency in both backend and frontend technologies
  • Solid IT infrastructure background: Windows Server / Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration, MS SQL, virtualization (VMware or comparable), firewalls and networking, endpoint management
  • Experience operating telephony systems (3CX or comparable) is a plus
  • Experience with DevOps, Agile/Scrum, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong vendor and service-provider management skills
  • Pragmatic, hands-on mindset -- comfortable moving between architectural strategy and operational issues
  • Fluency in German and English

Why Join Us?

  • Full technology ownership of an established Austrian company -- software product strategy and IT backbone, in one role
  • Flat hierarchies, direct reporting line to the Managing Director
