Do you have a passion for novel solutions to challenging technical problems? webLyzard technology and Storypact are looking for a software engineer to join our team in Vienna. Help us advance the state of the art in AI-driven knowledge extraction and visualization, Web intelligence, and large-scale semantic search. Both recent graduates and experienced engineers are welcome to apply. You will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment as part of a dynamic, international team (German is not a requirement). We have built award-winning technology showcases for organizations such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In our R&D projects funded by the European Union or the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), we also collaborate with leading media and technology partners across Europe.
WHAT YOU'LL DO in several of the following areas, depending on your expertise:
- Build scalable semantic search systems (RAG, embeddings, distributed indexing),
- Develop reference AI architectures and workflows (e.g., LLM fine-tuning, AI agents) and integrate them with existing applications,
- Build high-performance REST and gRPC APIs and refine the algorithms, load balancing and caching strategies behind them,
- Optimize Elasticsearch and database systems such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB,
- Run and improve our MLOps and DevOps stack, from LLM workflows to CI/CD, automated testing, Docker and Kubernetes.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Background in computer science or a related field,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Software development experience in Java or Python.

Salary
The salary is based on your qualifications and professional experience and will be determined during a personal interview. The position is based on a 38.5-hour workweek. The salary is paid 14 times per year. The collective agreement IT-KV ( EDV-KV ) applies.
