Your responsibilities

Excellent research needs state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and innovative digital services. With a team of about 50 experts, we will redesign the Institute's digital landscape over the next few years and implement an ambitious digital transformation programme to facilitate the Institute's rapid growth.
As part of this strategy, we are redefining out IT management practices and are implementing a management framework for introducing innovative digital services and maintaining a consistent architecture. Join us on an exciting journey to make this transformation a success!
As part of our IT & Digital Transformation Division, you will lead the Digital Transformation Office team responsible for process management, demand and portfolio management, business analysis, enterprise architecture management, and AI. You will act as a strategic partner for the Head of IT & Digital Transformation, for ISTA's administrative divisions as well as external providers. Moreover, you will be responsible for further developing the digital landscape of the Institute and will support the planning, decision making, and implementation of digital transformation projects. Your activities include:

• Leading, mentoring, and supporting the Digital Transformation Office team consisting of currently seven professionals
• Coordinating and prioritising projects and daily operations of the Digital Transformation Office
• Shaping and maintaining the enterprise architecture of the Institute
• Driving the introduction of IT service management practices based on ITIL together with the teams of the IT & Digital Transformation Division
• Establishing and maintaining organisation-wide frameworks for project & process management, demand and portfolio management, and business analysis
• Closely collaborating with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver end-to-end processes and effective digital solutions
• Providing general-purpose AI applications and integrating AI into administrative processes
• Fostering a positive team environment, a culture of innovation and driving continuous improvement

Your profile

• Proven track record in implementing digital initiatives and management practices such as business analysis, project and IT service management (preferably 5+ years), ideally experience with large-scale transformation and change initiatives
• Previous leadership or project management experience, ideally in academia, research or a similarly complex knowledge organisation
• Strong ability to break down and communicate complex digital and technical concepts, presenting them convincingly to stakeholders across different organisational levels
• Hands-on mindset with strong analytical skills, translating strategic concepts into actionable implementation plans, and ensuring operational execution
• Deep understanding of process, project, and portfolio management, enterprise architecture methods, and both agile and classic delivery approaches
• University degree in computer science, business informatics or a similar field
• Working language is English, good working knowledge of German is a plus
