We offer challenging opportunities within the diverse Siemens Group and with our well-known clients across Austria. We believe in equal opportunities, cultural diversity, and shared success.

For an exciting assignment with our customer, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, we are looking for a Data Engineer (f/m/d) who is passionate about designing and operating highly scalable cloud‑native data platforms on AWS, enabling data‑driven development, and supporting advanced AI/ML solutions in a complex IoT environment.

If you are an AWS‑strong Data Engineer with production experience, we value this more than prior domain‑specific background.

In this project-based role, you can work from anywhere in Austria. The position is available immediately and offered as a full-time role (38.5 hours/week).

Your tasks

  • Design, build, and operate robust, production‑grade data products and data infrastructure in AWS
  • Architect and implement scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient data pipelines using AWS-native services
  • Work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and development teams to define data contracts, schemas, and access patterns
  • Enable and support automated AI/ML and MLOps workflows, including repeatable training and deployment pipelines
  • Drive best practices for Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and cloud observability in a large-scale AWS environment

Your qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on AWS cloud environments
  • Strong hands‑on experience designing and operating scalable data platforms on AWS
(e.g. S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, SageMaker; production-level experience required)
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining reliable data pipelines at scale
with a clear focus on performance, cost efficiency, and operational stability
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL, including working with large, distributed datasets
(experience with Spark / PySpark is a strong advantage)
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD in cloud environments
(CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation; automated deployments are standard practice)
  • Ability and interest to enable AI/ML use cases on top of data platforms
(ML pipelines, MLOps, or AI engineering affinity; data as the foundation for AI solutions)
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate real-world use cases into scalable technical solutions; fluent in English
  • Experience with IoT, time-series data, or large-scale sensor data is highly desirable

Our Offer

The monthly gross salary according to the collective agreement of the electrical and electronics industry for this function is at least EUR 4.515,55 (this in any case exceeds the collective agreement minimum salary). Depending on your education and experience, an overpayment is possible. We will determine your final salary during a personal conversation.

As part of an internationally operating corporate group, we offer attractive career prospects and training opportunities, providing diverse ways for you to make the best use of your potential.
