Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a senior leader a Director or Vice President, Product Management to direct the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) Tolling business segment, overseeing a global cross-functional team and engaging with executive leadership to drive growth and development of this flagship product line.

The MLFF segment consists of a suite of solutions that covers the entire value chain of electronic tolling, from hardware devices to a highly scalable back end enterprise software platform. This role oversees the growth and development of our flagship market segment from the global technology group. This role entails engagement across all commercial regions of the globe and operates across the executive team, including interactions with the executive board. The team developing and delivering this solution set is a cross functional team spanning multiple countries.

As segment manager of this key line of business you will be the focal point for driving solution success through internal and external stakeholders on strategy, roadmap, markets and product offer. This is a senior leadership position and requires executive-and board level engagement. A summary of the functions of this role are as follows:

  • Lead segment strategy and execution: The role involves owning the segment's strategy and business plan, aligning with sales, delivery, and development teams to execute effectively while focusing on customer-centric solution evolution and financial objectives such as margin and revenue growth.
  • Drive market presence and stakeholder engagement: Responsibilities include marketing collaboration for global branding campaigns, conducting presentations and training at various organizational levels, supporting customers in defining their strategies, and preparing shareholder reports for the executive board.
  • Qualifications and leadership qualities: Candidates should have 5-10+ years in tolling solution leadership, strong collaborative and communication skills, experience managing mature product suites, and a technical undergraduate degree with an MBA preferred. The role requires working in a matrix organization with a hands-on approach and the ability to influence senior and board level management.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the segment strategy and business planning; drive strategy execution in conjunction with regions, and build consensus with sales, pre-sales, delivery, and operations, and work with the multiple development teams to execute effectively.
  • Put our customers front and center in the solution evolution and its success.
  • Oversee the segment budget against objectives (margin, revenue, growth).
  • Translate market needs to solution and product requirements and delivery milestones in close alignment with the product managers and product owners (development leads).
  • As this is a mature segment, focus on margin growth through improving quality of product, cost of ownership / delivery optimization and packaged solutions, and expanding segment revenue through partnerships, licensing (build vs buy) options, expansion of segment (i.e. cloud / SaaS offerings).
  • Work with Marketing to develop branding, marketing and thought leadership campaigns around the globe, in conjunction with regional sales, pre-sales and delivery teams.
  • Conducting sales and marketing presentations and training on mid, senior, and executive level, including trade shows (for instance ITS World Congress, IBTTA, etc.)
  • Helping customers with defining their strategy and business needs.
  • Create quarterly shareholder reports for the executive board.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and work with the standardization team.
  • Facilitate success in nationwide tender/RFP processes through solution availability, documentation readiness, integration and standardized cost calculation.
  • Ensure and establish regular feedback loops to product development teams by operational and productive data.
  • Work in an agile environment with multiple teams and external entities, where the general motto is "hands-on or hands-off".

Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience leading strategy, solution development, and go-to-market for Tolling solutions. Delivering solutions in a Project-centric company helpful.
  • Strong team player, collaborative personality, global mindset, hands-on engagement.
  • Experience defining the vision and strategy for a solution and a proven track record of bringing solutions to market.
  • Excellent communication across seniority levels and with people of different educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent organization skills - managing internal and external requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven product management leading and growing a suite of products in a mature segment, leading from legacy to innovation.
  • A jack-of-all trades with a get-things-done attitude - whether this be working on requirements, discussing business cases, strategy discussions with the board or technical discussions with the teams.
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization; this is a senior leadership role that accomplishes objectives through influencing and example.
  • BA/BS (technical undergraduate degree) + MBA strongly preferred.
