IT:U is a new technical university in Austria (Linz) dedicated to digital transformation, driven by interdisciplinary research and project-based learning to actively shape this transformation and advance it with a solution-oriented approach.
We are looking for a visionary and curious mind to shape intelligent systems with LLMs and Generative AI, creating and driving cutting-edge features in applications for students and employees.
Join us as an
AI Engineer (m/w/d) *
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop intelligent systems with LLMs and Generative AI, including inhouse AI backends and AI features as a service
- Design and implement RAG pipelines and scalable, modular components for LLM-based applications
- Prototype and validate new AI-driven features to enhance the digital experience at speed
- Architect systems using context and prompt engineering techniques and optimize foundation models for domain-specific use cases
- Explore multimodal AI and emerging architectures to drive innovation
- Ensure data governance, privacy and compliance in all AI workflows
- Collaborate with data engineer, product owner and UX designer to deliver impactful solutions
- Share best practices and foster knowledge exchange about AI development
Your strengths and skills:
- Academic degree in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering or related field
- Several years of experience in Generative AI, LLMs and intelligent systems
- Proficiency in Python and established AI/ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, prompt and context engineering
- Solid understanding of data pipelines, knowledge graphs and semantic search
- Knowledge of LLM interoperability frameworks (e.g. Model Context Protocol) for integrating external tools and data sources
- Proficiency in English at a professional and negotiation level
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile, innovation- driven environment

Competitive compensation starting from EUR 58.000 yearly gross salary, with the possibility of overpayment based on qualifications and experience.
